As the property specialist’s for La Cala and the surrounding area, nobody knows it better than us. So we thought for our first blog post we would tell you what we love about La Cala and what makes it the perfect place to live, holiday and buy a property.
Restaurants
La Cala is a foodies paradise with a huge range of restaurants offering a huge variety of cuisines. Some of our favourites include Albahaca, a family run Spanish restaurant, Sai’s, the best Indian restaurant on the coast and Carriola, for authentic Spanish tapas. If you fancy a drink before or after your meal, then you are spoilt for choice with options. We love Lo Del Nanet (The Reggae Bar), right on the beach, to watch the sun go down. If you fancy a glass of wine, then look no further than Pura Cepa on the Main Street.
The Weather
Protected by the Sierra Blanca mountains La Cala de Mijas enjoys on average 320 days of sunshine a year, with the temperature rarely dropping below 10 degrees even in the middle of winter. This makes La Cala the perfect getaway all year round to escape the cold winters of Northern Europe. The good weather also makes it easy and enjoyable to play golf all year round here.
The Beach/Boardwalk
La Cala’s beach is award winning. Stretching for the whole length of the village and beyond the beach offers so much more than simply sunbathing, although that in itself is enough! Why not visit one of the many chiringuito’s (beach bars), grab a sun bed and enjoy a drink and some lunch. If the beach is not you’re thing, then why not take a stroll along the board walk, which starts in La Cala and finishes in Cabopino 8km away. Take in the stunning views and stop at one of the many bars and restaurants along the way. The Town Hall will be extending the board walk in the other direction next year eventually linking La Cala to Fuengirola. This will allow for easy walking access from the areas of El Chapparral and El Faro to La Cala, making these areas much more popular with property buyers.
Costa Del Sport
La Cala and the Costa Del Sol is a sports fans paradise. Within a fifteen minute drive of La Cala there are tens of quality golf courses offering something for every standard of golfer, we particularly enjoy Calanova, with its amazing sea views. If golf is not your thing then, there is tennis, squash and padel courts in abundance. If football is your more your thing, then why not go and watch Malaga at the Rosaleda stadium as they compete in La Liga. If you are here in the winter, you can even ski! Only an hour and halves drive away is the ski resort of Sierra Nevada, offering lots of ski runs for all abilities. Where else could you spend the morning on the beach and ski in the afternoon?
