Some properties are difficult to capture in numbers alone. This beautifully restored Andalusian cortijo is one of them. Set in the spectacular countryside near Colmenar, surrounded by mountains and unspoilt nature, this exceptional country estate combines the character of a traditional home with generous outdoor living and an already established guest accommodation concept. With approximately 606 m2 built on a plot of 8,525 m2, the property offers an exceptional amount of space and versatility whether the next owner is looking for a substantial private residence, a home with accommodation for family and guests, or the opportunity to continue an already running rural hospitality business. THE MAIN HOME At the heart of the property lies the main residence: warm, characterful and unmistakably Andalusian. Exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors and carefully chosen natural finishes create a home that feels authentic rather than recreated. Generous living and dining areas provide plenty of room for everyday life and entertaining, while the kitchen, wood-burning stove and numerous inviting corners give the house the relaxed atmosphere of a true country home. Six bedrooms and four bathrooms in total, across the main residence and guest accommodation. THREE GUEST ACCOMMODATIONS The first guest suite is on the upper floor of the cortijo a double room with ensuite bathroom and a spacious private balcony overlooking the surrounding countryside. The second has its own access via an exterior staircase and can accommodate up to four guests: a bedroom with ensuite bathroom, an additional sleeping area on the upper level, an open-plan kitchen, wood-burning stove and a small private patio. The third was created from one of the property's original agricultural buildings and transformed into a self-contained guest house with its own kitchen, wood-burning stove, walk-in shower, enclosed garden and generous private terrace. This layout offers something increasingly difficult to find: the owners can retain their own private living environment while guests enjoy different levels of independence and privacy. OUTDOOR LIVING The outdoor spaces are an essential part of life here. A large saltwater pool forms the centre of the summer lifestyle, surrounded by terraces, sunbathing areas and mature Mediterranean planting. Throughout the grounds are numerous places to sit, dine, relax or simply enjoy the changing views across the mountains and countryside. The property offers ample parking and good road access an important practical advantage for both private owners and guests. Despite the peaceful rural setting, the property is well positioned for exploring inland Andalucía, its white villages and walking routes, while Málaga and the Costa del Sol remain within reach. MORE THAN A COUNTRY HOUSE What makes this property particularly interesting is that the hospitality concept has already been created. The property currently operates as established guest accommodation a future owner can combine life in Andalucía with an existing tourism concept rather than building one entirely from scratch. There is no obligation to continue the hospitality activity. The accommodation lends itself just as naturally to a large family home, visiting friends and relatives, retreats or simply having several independent spaces within one private estate. This is not about polished new-build perfection. Its appeal lies in something far more difficult to reproduce: character, atmosphere, space and a genuine sense of place for someone who wants to wake up surrounded by mountains and have the freedom to decide whether this becomes simply their home, or their home and their business. We would be delighted to present this property to you soon, either in person or via virtual viewing. Because this world is unique just like our Axarquía. In Andalusia. On the Costa del Sol. Here, on the sunny side of life...
